About me
About the Photographer
My name is Ron Bielefeld and I want to welcome you to my site. To start, let me tell you a bit about my background. I grew up in Wisconsin and spent many days in the outdoors where my dad taught me the appreciation of nature that I hold so dear today. I love the natural world so much I decided to make it my career. I hold B.S. and M.S. degrees in Wildlife Ecology and Biology and have worked as a professional wildlife biologist for 3 states over the past 20+ years. I currently reside in Florida where wildlife photo opportunities abound. My special interest is birds. I love to study their behaviors and I love creating images with them as the focus.
Along with my interest in nature and birds came an interest in preservation, thus my choice of profession. However, I also love to preserve nature and birds in pictures. Thus, my interest in photography. I have been taking pictures for a long time, but the recent advancements in digital photography have opened a whole new world of nature photography.
All of my photographs are of wild birds and none were baited in to get them close enough to photograph. To me, part of photographing nature is capturing it as it occurs "naturally," as if I were not there. So, I go to great lengths to not infringe on the animals I am creating images of.
I love dynamic images and have a special passion for capturing birds in flight. I hope you enjoy exploring my site and all the images it contains. I will be adding to it regularly and making improvements along the way, so please come back often. If you have any questions just ask. My contact information is on the "contact us" tab.
Thanks and enjoy! Ron
