About Ron

An avian research biologist and nature photographer with a lifelong passion for birds and wild places, Ron’s connection to the outdoors began in Wisconsin, where he spent countless hours exploring nature alongside his father. That early foundation led him to pursue degrees in Bird/Wildlife Ecology and Biology and ultimately to more than 40 years of fieldwork for three state natural resources agencies.

Now based in Florida, Ron’s work is shaped by the state’s extraordinary birdlife and diverse ecosystems. His photography centers on wild birds—especially birds in flight—and reflects a guiding belief that nature is most powerful when experienced on its own terms. He strives to create images that feel honest, unobtrusive, and true to the moment.

With decades of biological field experience and deep knowledge of Florida’s habitats, Ron brings a unique blend of scientific insight and artistic vision to every outing he leads. Digital photography has expanded how he tells stories through images, allowing him to preserve fleeting moments in the wild with care, authenticity, and a commitment to stewardship.
