THE STORY OF RON
About Ron
I’m an avian biologist and nature photographer with a lifelong passion for birds and the outdoors. Growing up in Wisconsin, I spent countless hours immersed in nature, guided by my father’s deep appreciation for the wild. That early connection inspired me to pursue degrees in Wildlife Ecology and Biology, leading to over 30 years of fieldwork across three states.
Today, I call Florida home—where the vibrant birdlife fuels both my research and creativity. My focus is wild birds, and I’m especially drawn to capturing them in flight. I believe nature is most powerful when experienced on its own terms, so I strive for images that reflect the natural world as if I weren’t there. My camouflaged pontoon boat helps me photograph wildlife with minimal disturbance, blending science with artistry.
With more than two decades as a licensed and insured boat captain, I bring deep knowledge of Florida’s ecosystems to every outing. Digital photography has expanded how I tell stories through images, preserving fleeting moments in the wild with care and authenticity.
Whether I’m studying bird behavior or waiting for the perfect wingbeat, I’m always working to preserve the beauty of nature—through both stewardship and photography.
