I am excited to announce that I will be teaming up with my good friend and fellow photographer Harry Collins to offer our Peregrine Falcons, Ducks, and More tour in February 2025. A new female has paired with the male and raised 2 chicks this year, so next breeding season is looking good for some great falcon action.

Overall, we will be photographing Peregrine Falcons, Harlequin Ducks, Long-tailed Ducks, Atlantic Brant, Purple Sandpipers, and more.  So don't miss out!

Peregrine falcons are powerful, fast flying birds of prey that hunt on the wing for small to medium sized birds.  We will be photographing these birds from a unique vantage point that will allow for several different types of images including free-flying, landing, take off, and perched.  We will have a high probability of seeing these birds with prey and performing many different behaviors.

Harlequin ducks sport some of the most exquisite plumage of any bird in North America.  We will have the opportunity to photograph these birds up close and personal and in a setting that brings out all of their splendid colors.

Long-tailed ducks are fast and beautiful birds.  They generally hand around in larger groups that makes getting multi-bird images great fun.  Around them you will often see other ducks such as Bufflehead and Common Eiders.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

To allow clients the most flexibility and comfort for lodging during the tour, you are responsible for arraigning your own accommodations.  Our base of operations will be the Hampton Inn at Glenpointe/Teaneck, New Jersey.  There is an adjoining hotel (Homewood Suites) and a Marriott Hotel directly across the street from the Hampton Inn.  Staying at one of these hotels will make meeting up in the mornings prior to departure for daily shoots very easy.  There are other hotels in the Teaneck/Glenpointe area.  You will be responsible for getting to the Hampton Inn each morning.  Included in-tour transport will be provided from the base hotel only, so you will need to get to the Hampton Inn each morning.

Workshop fee does not include:

Cost of getting to Hotel in Teaneck/Glenpointe, New Jersey; Lodging, meals; alcoholic beverages; gratuities, and anything else not explicitly stated as included.

Photography Notes:

Best bird photos are obtained with 500MM or more. Hand-holding, tripods, monopods, and the Speed-shooter Harness all work well.

We shoot rain or shine unless there is lightning or other hazardous conditions. If we get weathered out we keep ourselves busy with photography related activities as best we can.

Additional Notes:

February 16 and 22 are travel days, February 17 - 21 are photography days.  So please arrive the evening of the 16th and plan to depart the morning of the 22nd.  The best airport is Newark, N.J.

In-tour transport starts from Hotel and is provided during photography days specified above; transport from the Newark airport to the hotel and back can possibly be arraigned with advanced notice.

The workshop itinerary is subject to change and is to be considered provisional.

This workshop requires a minimum number of participants, if sufficient workshop places are not sold the workshop may not be run, this workshop has a minimum participant level of 4.
